Padmashree Ms. Lila Poonawalla is the Chairperson, DeLaval Pvt. Ltd. and Chairperson, Lila Poonawalla Foundation. She is Past Chairperson of Tetra Pak India Ltd., Alfa Laval India Ltd., LKM India Ltd., Alfa Laval Saunders India Ltd. and Alfa Laval Financial Services Ltd. Presently she is a Director on the IDBI Board, Beeyu Overseas, Neilsoft, Technigraphics, Jayant Oils and Derivatives, Alliance Coffee, Pragati Leadership and also works as Corporate Advisor to KPIT infosystems Ltd., BioImagene, Optra, Electorprocessores and Equivinox. Lila is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet under the Chairmanship of the honorable President of India. She is the Chairperson for the Herbal & Floritech Sub-Committee of SAC-C. Lila is a founder Chairperson of the Indo-Swiss Vocational Training Trust. Apart from this, she is also the Chairperson Emeritus of Quality Circle Forum of India - Maharashtra Chapter, actively involved in the Quality Circles Movement. Lila is currently a member of many important Governing and Advisory Boards/ Committees in India like Pune Vyasapeeth, UGC, L.I.C. of India, C-DAC, CII, Poona Blindmen’s Association, Biotech Park and Indira Institute of Management to name a few. Lila has also initiated the “Lila Poonawalla Foundation” to encourage deserving young women to pursue higher education in their chosen professions. In the past 12 years over 385 budding young graduates, from different vocations, have benefited from these scholarships, for their post graduation studies overseas and in India. She has bagged numerous awards for Best Lady Executive, International Marketing, Lady of the Decade, Shiromani Mahila Award, FIE Award for Excellence, Industrial Excellence, Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini, Kohinoor Ratna, Gem of India, International Woman of the Year, Bharat Udyog Gold Medal, Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, Indira Gandhi Memorial Award, Pune’s Pride Award, Life-time Achievement Award from Indian Women Scientists’ Association and many more. She has been presented the title Padmashree, in 1989, by the then President of India. She has also received international recognition from the King of Sweden. In 2003 she was decorated with the Polar Star Award by the King of Sweden and named as an Officer of the Royal Order. |
