Mr. Harshvendra Soin is a living illustration of how using a hands-on approach to leadership development results in quantifiable improvements in leadership capabilities. Eminent leaders on our jury panel were Dr. Shikha Jain (Director – IMDR), Dr. Ganesh Natarajan (Chairman at 5F World, Lighthouse Communities & Honeywell Automation India Ltd.), Tarun Sharma (Founder of Yodda, Former CEO BMC Software India, Board Member, Global Logic India), and Vibhas Joshi (Coach, Facilitator, Author, and Former Board Member, SAS Research & Development, India), who worked hard towards ascertaining the winners of the 2022 IT Industry awards.
Mr. Harshvendra Soin (Chief People Officer & Head of Marketing at Tech Mahindra) was chosen for this prestigious leadership award for his exceptional commitment to successfully managing dual roles with equal aplomb. This balancing act would not be possible without his strategic leadership skills. He believes in constantly innovating and creating new avenues to help employees, clients, and businesses succeed.
Mr. Soin accepted his award with gratitude and selflessness. He bestowed the credit for his achievements on his 170,000 associates, who work 24/7 to make it all happen. With great modesty, he said that a leader could only be as effective and outstanding as the team who supports him. He spoke from the heart when he said that he felt blessed to have such sterling Tech Mahindra Associates, customers, and partners who make strategic thinking and leadership, possible. Further, he proudly declared that it’s entirely due to their team effort that today Tech Mahindra is known as an ‘Employer of Choice’.
Mr. Soin is the personification of inspirational leadership, evident in the closing remarks of his acceptance speech. He said that while he was accepting the award on behalf of his teams, he couldn’t emphasize enough his responsibility of creating a happy, healthy, and productive workplace.
Mr. Soin has essayed different roles and positions at Tech Mahindra that includes heading the Canada Enterprise Business as Senior Vice President and Country Head, and as the Global Leadership Acquisition and Development, and Head of Business HR for APAC and IMEA (Telecom & Enterprise). Throughout his career, Mr. Soin’s focus has been on the development of people, a role which he performed successfully at Fortis Healthcare Limited and Aditya Birla Retail Limited as a Chief People Officer.
Similarly, during his stint at Bharti Enterprises, he was Senior Vice President – People Excellence before moving to Bharti Retail Ltd as the Head of HR. He has also worked with the Oberoi Group and Punwire Limited for a brief period. He is the quintessential inspirational leader, in action.
