The awardee in the High-Impact Learning Leader category, Mr Manoj Apte is the Global Head of Learning and Development at Persistent Systems and he brings his unique perspective while enabling transformation within the organization. He understands the value of continuous learning and ensures talent is nurtured across the organization. The result is a reliable foundation of experts in key technologies and domains, driving excellence and growth across the enterprise.
While his expertise lies in testing quality management and process engineering, he eventually found his calling in learning and development. For the last seven years, he has been essaying the role of a transformative leader at Persistent Systems and channelling his previous experience into achieving great results.
Reflections on Humble Beginnings
In his acceptance speech, Manoj reminisced about his younger days and spoke of how his humble upbringing in Nagpur has helped shape his persona. It was during those formative years that he understood the value of education and learning to make the best of whatever resources are available. Fast-forward to 2024, and he continues to manage his role and team in the same manner, eliciting the maximum from existing talents.
Mr Apte is a strong advocate of continuous learning and he believes that it is the only path to truly excel. It is commendable to note that, despite his busy schedule and immense responsibilities, Manoj has carved out time to earn his PhD and is in the process of submitting his thesis.
Overcoming Challenges with Grit
His career path has not been easy and many challenges came his way. However, his grit, hard work, and sheer perseverance paid off and brought him to the pinnacle he is at today. What sets Mr Apte apart is the tremendous patience he possesses. When he takes a decision – and he doesn’t believe a decision is right or wrong – he doesn’t expect immediate results. A lot of analysis and thought goes into it, and “it is important to just stick to it and execute it, and everything will go right”.
A Mantra for Success
One of his successful mantras that we all can emulate is to never give up on oneself or other people. Every organization has a mixed bag of performers, and Mr Apte believes that each person has their way of working and that itself presents a great place to learn and grow. Working with different people is a great example of collaboration in the workplace training.
Lastly, Mr Manoj Apte shared his thoughts on how to approach every project. If you treat everything like a product and handle every stage of the project that way, whether it’s branding or marketing, you are guaranteed success.
